Privacy notice

This notice explains what RaisedGardenBed.org collects, why, and what it does not collect. The short version: the calculators run in your browser, usage statistics are anonymous and stored without IP addresses.

Who is responsible

Calculator inputs stay in your browser

The soil, bag and lumber calculators run entirely in your browser. The dimensions and prices you type are not sent to our server when you calculate. Your choice of imperial or metric units is remembered in your browser's local storage (key rgb.units) so the page opens the same way next time; you can clear it by clearing site data in your browser.

Anonymous usage events

To learn whether the tools are useful, pages send a small number of usage events to our own database (Cloudflare D1). Events include, for example, that a tool page was viewed, that a calculation was completed, or that a result was copied or printed. Each event records:

• the event name and the page path;
• a random session identifier created in your browser's session storage (key rgb.sid), which is discarded when you close the tab;
• coarse details about the calculation, such as the tool, the bed shape, the unit system, the number of beds and a volume range (for example "10–40 ft³"), never the exact dimensions;
• whether you arrived from a search engine, directly, or from another site, as one of those three categories only;
• the two-letter country code that our hosting provider attaches to the request.

We do not store your IP address, your browser's user-agent string or the full referring URL with these events. We do not use cookies for analytics, and we do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics services on this site.

Clicks on outbound recommendation links

Some pages may show links to retailers after you complete a calculation. When you click one, we record the same kind of anonymous event: which recommendation was clicked, the retailer, the link's status and the page you clicked from. See the affiliate disclosure for how those links work.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; this happens at the hosting layer and is not added to our usage events. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third-party font service.

How long we keep data

Anonymous usage events contain nothing that identifies you and are kept to compare how the site is used over time.

Your choices and requests

You can use every calculator without buying anything or giving us any personal information. To ask about, correct or delete any data we hold about you, email hello@raisedgardenbed.org. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that applies.

Changes

If we add a new service that processes visitor data, such as a different analytics tool, we will update this page before it goes live and change the date above.
