About RaisedGardenBed.org
RaisedGardenBed.org is an independent garden-planning site run by Zeny Tech LTD. It does one narrow job: turning the size of a raised bed into numbers you can shop and build with, namely how much soil to buy, how many bags that is, and which boards to cut. We do not make or sell raised beds, soil or lumber, and we are not affiliated with any brand or retailer mentioned on the site.
What you will find here
- Raised garden bed soil calculator: soil volume for rectangular, round and L-shaped beds, with filler, settling allowance and a bagged versus bulk cost comparison.
- Bag count guide: whole bags for cubic-foot, quart and liter labels.
- Raised garden bed plans: a lumber cut list, purchase list and cutting diagram for a simple box bed.
How we work
Formulas in the open. Each tool page shows the formulas it uses, the unit conversions and the source of its constants, such as the American Softwood Lumber Standard for actual board sizes. You can check every result by hand.
Assumptions labeled as assumptions. Some inputs have no single correct value, for example how much soil settles after watering. We pick a default, mark it "assumption" on the page and let you change it, rather than presenting it as a fact.
Your prices, not ours. We do not publish price lists that go out of date. The cost comparisons use quotes you enter; the defaults are examples only.
Worked examples come from the tools. The worked examples in our guides are calculated by the same code as the tools, so when a formula changes, the examples change with it.
How the site is paid for
The calculators are free and show their full results without sign-up. The site is funded in future by clearly labeled paid links to retailers. This does not change a single calculated number; see the affiliate disclosure.
